R. Gregory Lande DO is a graduate of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.

After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Lande joined the US Army and served for 20 years, retiring as a Colonel. He was the recipient of the Legion of Merit Award and the Specialty A Designation for national military medical prominence.

He is the principal editor and contributing author of "Principles and Practice of Military Forensic Psychiatry," considered a foundational text on the subject. It includes a Forward by William K. Suter, J.D., Major General, USA (Ret), and former Clerk of the US Supreme Court.

Following his military service, Dr. Lande’s active professional career turned to successive state, federal, and private work at all levels, including administrative, clinical, academic, and research activities.

Dr. Lande specializes in adult psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, and addiction medicine. He has published widely, including books, chapters, and journal articles.

He is the Editor-in-Chief of the "Journal of Addictive Diseases" and a physician collaborator for a group of nurse practitioners.

Dr. Lande is a past president of the American Osteopathic Academy of Addiction Medicine and is a past member of the Board of Trustees.

He is a Clinical Professor at the Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine.

In addition to his medical career, Dr. Lande is an
independent history scholar. His interest in historical research focuses on the human side of America’s Civil War era.

His history authorship includes "Madness, Malingering and Malfeasance: The Transformation of Psychiatry and the Law in the Civil War Era,""The Abraham Man: Growth and Development of Forensic Psychiatry," "Psychological Consequences of the American Civil War,""Spiritualism in the American Civil War," "United States Military Justice in the Civil War: Court-Martial Practices and Administration." His upcoming book is "Crime in the Wake of the Civil War."

In addition, Dr. Lande authored two novels, "Foresight," and "Foresight in Hindsight."

The mission of the American Osteopathic Academy of Addiction Medicine is to improve the health of individuals and families burdened with the disease of addiction.
